Representative Transactions
- represented a major retailer in the first unregistered design case in the fashion industry to be heard in Europe
- successfully represented a major retailer in a shopping centre case involving service charge issues
- advised in relation to a potential dispute between two large corporations over a comparative advertising campaign
- advised in relation to the acquisition of Arnotts Department Store Group and is providing ongoing legal advice to the successful purchaser
- advising a major UK Department Store in relation to the establishment of their first Irish store. We are also giving ongoing advice on all legal issues arising, including adapting documentation / contracts / websites and promotions to meet Irish legal requirements
- we provide a full range of legal services for a number of department stores with multiple branches countrywide including Dunnes Stores and the Brown Thomas Group and Arnotts
- advising numerous UK chain stores in relation to the establishment of their Irish operations. In addition to advising in relation to property acquisitions, we also provide ongoing advice on all operational issues such as employment law, litigation, consumer law, intellectual property and advertising and branding
- providing a dedicated licensing service to the franchisees of the "Carry-Out" off-licence chain
- advising numerous UK plcs in relation to the establishment of their Irish operations and providing ongoing operational advice
- a major UK hotel chain has retained Matheson Ormsby Prentice to provide advice in relation to a number of their Irish properties and on a number of key issues, including franchising
- a large UK leisure group wishing to establish leisure centres in Ireland made us their number one choice for legal advice. Post set-up, we continue to advise them on operational issues
deliver a broad range of commercial advice to a major fast-food chain, with particular emphasis on franchising - successfully invoked the ICANN procedure for an Irish department store in respect of a domain name dispute and achieved the return of a domain name from a cyber-squatter
a number of leading UK and Irish manufacturers regularly consult us in relation to product promotions, competitions and instant wins in the Irish market - we are employed by one of Ireland's largest independent off-licence and pub chains. In addition to licensing new outlets we advise on renewal of licences, legislative compliance and staff training
