About the Group

Our Property Litigation Group is led by litigation partner Lisa Broderick and is one of the largest property litigation practices amongst Irish law firms. Lawyers in the group have a broad range of experience in advising clients on property related disputes.  They have advised landlords, tenants, developers, local authorities and other public bodies, including acting as retained counsel to the Private Residential Tenancies Board. They also work closely with lawyers in our Commercial Property Department.

The group has considerable experience in acting in all kinds of dispute resolution, including arbitrations, mediations and judicial review proceedings, and regularly advises on property disputes before the Commercial Court.

Representative Transactions

  • We are acting for a number of property developers/receivers in respect of initiating and managing specific performance proceedings as against proposed purchasers of residential properties.
  • We represented a large scale property developer in the Commercial Court seeking declaratory relief in respect of a dispute involving contract for sale of land.
  • We acted on behalf of a large scale property developer in the Commercial Court  in respect of defending specific performance proceedings issued against it arising from a development agreement.
  • We advised Ickendell (the owner of Bewleys Café, Grafton Street, Dublin) in respect of an ongoing dispute with its tenant.
  • We are the legal adviser to the Private Residential Tenancies Board, advising them on the exercise of their functions and their enforcement role and defending judicial review proceedings instituted against it.
