Expertise
Greg heads up the firm's VAT and Customs consultancy practice within the Tax Department at Matheson Ormsby Prentice. He has extensive experience in advising clients in relation to the complexities of international VAT compliance and Irish and international VAT planning opportunities. In addition to advising in relation to VAT issues he is retained as international adviser to a number of entities within the aviation industry in relation to general indirect tax issues including Customs Duty issues that arise within the sector.
Greg has lectured extensively for the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland, the Irish Taxation Institute and the Institute of Chartered Accounts in Ireland regarding VAT and related matters. Greg is a regular contributor to Irish Tax Review, the journal of the Irish Taxation Institute. Greg has previously sat on the main committee of the Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants and is currently a member of the Taxation Committee of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland

Highlights
- Greg acts as European VAT co-ordinator for Nova Information Systems regarding their EU acquisitions and business strategy. In the period between 2004 and 2006 Greg has advised in relation to VAT issues arising in relation to acquisitions in excess of €375 million
- Greg has advised and represented internet security systems company RSA in their successful overturning of a Decision of the EU Customs Committee classification of certain RSA products and their subsequent challenge of an EU Regulation before the European Court of First Instance
- He is retained as special advisor to a financial services industry group organised through the auspices of Financial Services Ireland to represent industry interests in relation to VAT and outsourcing contracts in the insurance industry
