Expertise
Bonnie is a partner in the EU, Competition and Regulatory Law Group at Matheson Ormsby Prentice. Bonnie specialises in advising on EU and Irish competition law including EC and Irish merger control, cartel and dominance issues, public procurement and State aid. She has made notifications and submissions to the Competition Authority, the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland, the UK Office of Fair Trading and the European Commission. Prior to joining Matheson Ormsby Prentice, Bonnie worked in the competition group at a leading London City firm.
Bonnie has spoken at conferences and workshops on competition law and public procurement and written on procurement and competition law issues for text books and publications including The International Comparative Legal Guide to Public Procurement 2009; European Competition Laws: A Guide to the EC and Its Member States (Frank Fine ed., Matthew Bender & Co. Inc.); A Practical Guide To National Competition Rules Across Europe (Marjorie Holmes and Lesley Davey, ed., Kluwer Law International) as well as a number of Global Competition Review publications.
Bonnie has lectured on State aid on the Professional Practice Course at the Law Society of Ireland's Law School and is a Committee Member of the Irish Society for European Law.

Highlights
Bonnie has advised:
- on merger notifications to the European Commission and the Competition Authority, including advising Carlsberg on Irish aspects of its joint acquisition (with Heineken) of the Scottish & Newcastle business (the first reference back of an EC Merger Regulation transaction to the Competition Authority)
- a wide range of public sector clients (including government departments, public authorities and utilities) as well as private bidders on tenders conducted under EC and national public procurement regimes
- on the notification of State aid to the European Commission and on State aid complaints to the European Commission
- broadcasters on change of ownership/control applications to the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland
- on competition litigation including advising in relation to the first amicus curiae application made by the Competition Authority
- domestic and multinational companies on the application of the competition rules to commercial arrangements and on the implementation of competition compliance programmes
