The Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution department of Matheson Ormsby Prentice are looking to employ an experienced legal secretary with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work comfortably and successfully in a high-pressure environment. The team is fast-paced and requires an individual who can provide administrative and secretarial support for simultaneous projects.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong organisational abilities and must be able to demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in spelling and correct use of English grammar and punctuation. Excellent proofreading skills are vital and we require a candidate who is responsible, organised, detail-oriented and a problem solver.
Technical Skills
You must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office but particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint and comfortable and competent in the learning and use of a variety of computer software programs used in house. Familiarity of file management software and electronic filing is also very important.

- Dictaphone typing (Big Hand electronic)
- Organisation and maintenance of paper and electronic files
- Preparation of bills and maintenance of billing records and files
- Team Diary management – plan and schedule meetings, appointments and conferences
- Preparation of Pleadings
- Preparation of Briefs for Counsel and Books for Court
- Travel arrangements
- Presentations
- Fielding telephone calls
